Where size does make a difference
We are leading a £1.5 billion investment programme in land, property and infrastructure and this, combined with the goegraphic area we cover, makes us the UK’s largest urban regeneration company.
In terms of geographic area we cover the most space combining an urban, rural and coastal landscape of 80,000 hectares. Its identity is distinctive enough to be a sub-region of North East England, bounded by hills and the sea, and threaded through by the great River Tees.
The Tees Valley is home to a quarter of the population of the North East - 650,000 people living in the five unitary authorities of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton on Tees.
Our heavy engineering, chemical, process, steel and port industries continue to have a major impact in the changing national economy. In themselves, they are adapting successfully to the challenges of the global market; and a new future for the Tees Valley is being built on a solid manufacturing base – an unrivalled logistics and utility infrastructure, enviable space to develop and a robust, resilient work ethic.
Thus we possess both the size and the dynamism to create the critical mass needed for achieving our primary objective ”to become one of the most admired regeneration companies in the world”.
