Thanks to the shared history and culture of the five communities, they are partners in spirit as well as name. The partnership effectively became active in 1996 with the creation of the inward investment function now incorporated in Tees Valley Regeneration, funded by the five councils to attract inward investment.
It also proved effective. In just seven years a small team of professionals brought in £270 million, created 10,000 new jobs, broadened the economic base and began to establish the Tees Valley’s identity.
